In Talenta Performance Management, there is a Competency feature that allows you to define competencies by position, assess competencies using a review cycle, and view the results in a chart. When managing the Competency feature, you need to set up Competency first.
Here is the guide:
A. Set Up Competency Items in Bulk
Log in to your Talenta Performance account. In the "Talents" menu, select Competency.
Note: Competency Items are competency attributes that are assessed based on a specific rating scale.Then, on the "Competency" tab, click Competency items.
Click “Upload .xlsx”.

Then, Download template for you to complete and upload again by clicking “Choose file”.
Here is what the Competency Item template looks like. Fill in Item Name, Description (optional), and Rating Scale Description (Default: 1 Novice, 2 Basic, 3 Intermediate, 4 Advanced, 5 Proficient). You can fill in the Rating Scale Description as desired if you do not want to use the default descriptions.
After the items are uploaded, you will be returned to the following page, where all successfully uploaded items will be listed.

If there is any incorrect data, you can click “Actions”, then delete individual items by clicking Delete or edit them individually by clicking Edit.
- When deleting an item, a confirmation pop-up will appear as follows. Click “Delete”.
- However, if you receive an Unable to delete notification, it means that you cannot delete the item because it has been added to a Competency group. You need to check and remove the Competency item from the specified Competency group. -
Alternatively, delete items in bulk by checking them, then clicking “Actions” and Delete bulk item.
You can click Edit bulk item to edit items in bulk. You will be directed to the Download template page as described in step 4.
B. Set Up Individual Competency Items
Under Competency, select Competency item, then “Create item”.

You will then be directed to the following Create item page.
Details:No. Button/Field Name Description 1 Item name Enter the name of the item you want to create. 2 Description Describe your item here (optional). 3 Set rating scale This rating scale is the default setting. You can change this default setting by clicking the blue “here” text.
Edit each rating scale description by clicking the “Pencil” icon. The following pop-up will appear. Change the rating description in the available field, then click “Save changes”.
4 Add competency Click “Add competency” when you have finished completing the individual item creation form.
C. Set Up Competency Groups
After setting up items, you can set up groups. Here are the steps:
Make sure you are on the Competency page in Talenta Performance. Under Set Up, click Competency Group.
To create a new group, click “Create group”.

You will then be directed to the following page.
Details:No. Field/Button Name Description 1 Group name Enter the competency group name. 2 Description Enter the group description (optional). 3 Select category for this group Select a category for this group.
- None: No category.
- Soft skill: Skills that include traits such as communication and integrity.
- Hard skill: Technical skills required to perform a specific job.
4 Add competency item Select this button to choose the Competency items required for the group.

The following pop-up will appear when you select “Add competency item”. All Competency Items you have created will appear in the list. Check the items you want to add to the group. Then, click “Add to list”.
Use the Search bar to search for Competency item names as keywords.

The items you have added to the list will appear in this section. If everything is correct, click “Save”.
Click the “-” icon if you want to remove a Competency item. Then, click “Delete” to confirm the item deletion.
You will then be directed to the following page, and the Competency group setup will be complete.

You can delete or edit a group by clicking “Actions”.
- If you select Edit group, you will be directed to the following page to change the information you created.
- If you select Delete group, the following confirmation pop-up will appear. Select “Delete” to continue deleting.
- However, if an Unable to delete pop-up appears when you click Delete group, it means that the Group has been used in Competency Assignment. You need to check and remove the Competency group from the specified Assignment.
